Although the islands are located near the equator, they not only have blazing hot tropical rainforests but also highlands with mountains as high as 3000~4000 meters.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> Due to such vast nature and its distance and difficulties to reach from Europe and the United States, foreign culture has scarcely entered the country, resulting in many people still following the traditional way of living.<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<strong> <span style=\"font-size: small;\"><br \/>\nA lot of the places are impossible to reach without chartering an airplane. Hotels are also very limited.<br \/>\nAmong Papua New Guinea which is said to have over 800 tribes and languages, we shot mountainous areas where wigmen and mudmen live, Amazon-like tropical rainforensts in the areas around the Sepik River, and the seaside close to the Rabaul that once was an important hub of the Japanese army.<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><strong> <span style=\"font-size: small;\"><br \/>\nThese are only a few among all Papua New Guinean tribes. Still, you can catch a glimpse of their life and mentalities through their fashion, makeup, and costumes captured in the photos.<br \/>\nAll photos are real portraits taken with a high-resolution camera, not containing any intentional factors. In this exhibition, we will display photos taken by Nobutsugu Sugiyama, a photographer active in the advertising and fashion industry. Sugiyama\u00a0Profile<\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><br \/>\n<strong>As a Photographer\u2026<\/strong><br \/>\nNobutsugu Sugiyama has been a Tokyo-based professional freelance photographer ever since he was in the Nihon University College of Art. He was based in Sydney Australia from 1986-1991.\u2028He currently specializes in Commercial &amp; Advertising photography, primarily portraits and fashion. His works have appeared on advertisements\/magazines\/photo books\/publications\/exhibitions\/etc. of well-known companies all over Japan. Having done numerous workshops and lectures, he has also appeared in magazines and on television as a commentator. He released his e-photo books and apps which made him a pioneer in the photography industry, leading him to be internationally recognized. He now holds exhibitions worldwide.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: small;\"><br \/>\n<strong>As a Creative Strategist\u2026<\/strong><br \/>\nNobutsugu Sugiyama gives overall strategic advice for planning and production of art related productions. Having a career as a Commercial &amp; Advertising photographer, he is versed in the areas of applications, e-photo books and website programming.
